Christ The King Church Community Commitment

Having received Christ as my Lord and Savior and been baptized, and being in agreement with CTK’s “Essentials of the Christian Faith” and their “Purpose Statement,” by the Holy Spirit I commit myself to God and to my CTK church community to do the following:

  1. I will protect the unity of the church…
-by acting in love toward others in the church family
-by speaking encouraging words (& refusing to gossip)
    -by trusting the CTK leadership
    -by restoring broken relationships
  • So let us concentrate on the things which make for harmony and on the growth of our fellowship together. (Romans 14:19)
  • Have a sincere love for other believers; love one another earnestly with all your heart. (I Peter 1:22)
  • Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs. (Ephesians 4:29)
  • Appreciate your pastoral leaders who gave you the Word of God. Take a good look at the way they live, and let their faithfulness instruct you, as well as their truthfulness.  (Hebrews 13:17)
  • First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift. (Matthew 5:24 -  See also Matthew 18:15.)

  1. I will share the responsibility of my church in obedience to the Great Commission…
-by participating in mission and outreach
-by inviting those without a church  to attend
-by warmly welcoming those who visit
  • Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19)
  • The Master said to the servant, “Go out to the roads and country lanes, and urge the people there to come so my house will be full.” (Luke 14:23)
  • So, warmly welcome each other into the church, just as Christ has warmly welcomed you; then God will be glorified. (Romans 15:7)

  1. I will serve the ministry of my church…
-by committing myself to grow as Jesus’ disciple
    -by developing a servant’s heart
-by using my gifts and talents
  • But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (II Peter 3:18)
  • God has given gifts to each of you from His great variety of spiritual gifts. Manage them well so that God’s generosity can flow through you.  (I Peter 4:10)
  • Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.  Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ  Jesus: Who…[took on] the very nature of a servant. (Philippians 2:3-4, 7)

  1. I will support the testimony of my church…
    -by living a godly life
-by worshipping faithfully with my church family
-by praying for my church family
    -by regular financial giving
  • Whatever happens, make sure that your everyday life is worthy of the gospel of Christ. (Philippians 1:27)
  • Let us not give up meeting together…but let us encourage one another. (Hebrews 10:25)
  • We always thank God for all of you and pray for you constantly.
    (I Thessalonians 1:2)
  • On every Lord’s Day, each of you, should set aside some amount of money in relation to what you have earned and save it for this offering. (I Corinthians 16:2)
